🇨🇭 | Cloudy Day ☁️: One-Day Trip to Bern, Switzerland’s Capital

☁️Woke up and checked the weather forecast—Spiez was set for rain all day, while Bern, the capital, only had cloudy skies with some sun breaks. Perfect timing, too: we were a little worried about getting bored of the same scenic views, so a trip to the capital’s museums sounded like the ideal way to refresh our eyes! The train from Spiez to Bern only takes 30 minutes, so we decided to go on a whim—no hesitation needed! 🚂 ☁️Bern Train Station felt more like a major railway hub in China, with tons of platforms crisscrossing the area. It was a bit overwhelming at first, and we even felt a little out of place (after getting used to smaller Swiss stations)!⛪️. ☁️We started our city walk with a stop at the Bundeshaus (Federal Palace), admiring its grand neoclassical architecture. Then we caught a distant glimpse of Berner Münster (Bern Cathedral)—its Gothic spire piercing the cloudy sky was still impressive, even from afar ⛪️. ☁️Our main stop was the Historisches Museum Bern (Bern Historical Museum). We spent nearly the whole afternoon there, right until closing time! We paired its ticket with entry to the Einstein Museum next door—together, they span 4 whole floors, packed with exhibits from Bern’s medieval history to Einstein’s life and work. We walked so much our legs felt wobbly, and only left when the closing bell rang! By then, we were starving, so we headed out to hunt for dinner. 🍽️ Quick Travel Tips for Bern on a Cloudy Day: Transport Hack: Trains between Spiez and Bern run every 15-30 minutes—no need to book in advance; just grab a ticket or use a Swiss Travel Pass. Museum Must-Know: The combined ticket for Bern Historical Museum + Einstein Museum costs around 25 CHF per adult. Arrive by 1 PM to have enough time to explore all floors without rushing. ☁️Post-Museum Dinner Spot: Head to the Old Town near the museum—try Restaurant Schwellenmätteli for traditional Swiss rösti (hash browns) or Café & Restaurant Kornhauskeller for cozy, budget-friendly meals. Weather Prep: Even on cloudy days, Bern’s winds can be chilly—pack a light jacket or scarf to stay comfortable during your walk. #Switzerland #Bern #SwissTravel #MuseumHopping #CityWalk
