🇩🇪|The Fairy-Tale City of Bremen😍 (Travel Guide)
I used to think Bremen was just another ordinary German town, but after visiting, I realized I totally underestimated its charm. It’s absolutely worth a second trip—plus it’s super photogenic. Every shot turns out beautiful! —————— 📝 Located in northern Germany, Bremen is the capital of Germany’s smallest federal state (similar to a municipality directly under the central government) and is the country’s second-largest port city after Hamburg. —————— 1️⃣ Bremen Town Hall (Bremen Rathaus) & Roland Statue: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The Bremen Town Hall is one of the city's most iconic landmarks. Built in the early 15th century after Bremen joined the Hanseatic League, it originally featured Gothic architecture and was later renovated in the 17th century into the Weser Renaissance style. A new wing was added in the early 20th century. Miraculously, the town hall survived WWII undamaged. The Roland Statue (Bremer Roland) stands in front of the town hall and was erected around the same time. It symbolizes Bremen’s independence, freedom, and market rights after breaking away from ecclesiastical rule upon joining the Hanseatic League. —————— 2️⃣ Town Musicians of Bremen Statue (Die Bremer Stadtmusikanten): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This bronze statue depicts the iconic characters from the Grimm Brothers’ fairy tale—a donkey, dog, cat, and rooster. The story conveys that even small groups can overcome powerful enemies through unity, wisdom, and courage. It’s said that rubbing the donkey’s front legs brings good luck. I gave it a solid 10-second rub and didn’t let go! 🍀 —————— 3️⃣ Bremen Cathedral (Bremen Dom): ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ At first glance, it reminded me of St. Michael's Cathedral in Qingdao—but Bremen Cathedral is much older, dating back to the 11th century. The exterior is adorned with exquisite murals, and the interior is stunning, especially the crystal chandeliers and stained-glass windows. They even host concerts here sometimes—check online for schedules! —————— 4️⃣ Schnoor District: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Highly recommend wandering through the Schnoor District! The narrow lanes are packed with medieval charm and traditional architecture. You’ll find lots of unique and lovely little shops here. Just seeing those colorful tiny houses will lift your mood instantly! 🌈 #Travel #Germany #LifeInGermany #DailyGermany #Bremen
