🇩🇪 | Bonn | Saw the River of Forgetfulness in a Special Exhibition
Met up with a German friend for the first time and visited the Museum August Macke Haus. I was completely captivated by Ulrike Theusner’s special exhibition — the photos really don’t do justice to the actual pieces! 📸✨ Here’s what moved me: A soul ferryman on the banks of the River of Forgetfulness ⛵🌌; The intense pressure and near-madness of doctors working in hospitals 🏥😣; The struggle to hold onto life, yet still finding glimpses of hope and beauty 🌸💔… Unphotographed Eastern motifs that stirred something deep: spirit animals, traditional Northeast Chinese floral-patterned jackets, and even vibes reminiscent of Spirited Away… 🐉👘 The entire exhibition was a powerful blend of light and darkness, beauty and evil, opposition and unity/harmony. ✨🖤 To think a German artist born in 1982 could so seamlessly weave together Eastern and Western aesthetics, philosophy, and real-world reflection — it left me speechless, amazed, and deeply excited… What moved me equally was how naturally my Western-born friend connected with these themes — no cultural barrier, just shared resonance. Gegensatz und Einheit (Opposition and Unity) — that’s the spirit lingering in my mind. Even now, I’m still feeling the echoes… 🖤🤍 #Bonn #BonnMuseums #VisitBonn #StudyInGermany
