🇩🇪 Berlin Find | A Taste That Feels Like Home… 🏮🍵
Stumbled upon this little spot on a rainy walk home. It’s small, cozy — steam baskets filled with dumplings, baozi, shumai, sticky rice treats 🥟🧺 Also side dishes like mouthwatering chicken, braised beef, edamame, and warm floral tea, ginger brew, goji drinks, even wine 🍶 The owner — a kind Hong Kong auntie — gifted us a plate of pickled cucumbers to start. The braised beef was aromatic, thinly sliced, tender yet firm… you could tell the marinade was homemade. She noticed I loved it and kept refilling our tea with a warm smile 😊 She said: "Europeans don’t like chewy tendon, otherwise it’d be even better!" She made sure we were sheltered from the wind and rain ❤️ Always reminding us to eat while hot. Every time my cup was empty, she’d come over with a hot pot to refill it. Sitting there, watching people pass by in the damp cold, I felt warmth spreading from my mouth all the way to my soul 🫖 The shrimp dumplings were tender, wrappers crystal thin — each bite felt like a gentle hug 🦐 The soup dumplings had just the right thickness, bursting with rich broth. Shumai were fragrant with meat, wrapped in thin chewy skin. Tofu and cabbage-pork dumplings tasted wholesome and honest — with crunchy cabbage and shiitake for texture and aroma. As we finished, she brought out a small plate of green grapes 🍇 to gently cleanse the palate. My friend said: “No more food tonight — don’t ruin this perfect feeling.” Went back two more times — each visit Auntie orchestrated the meal like a quiet ritual 🍽️ Start with appetizers (like crunchy cucumber), then the steamers arrive puffing hot… Then soft desserts and fruit to close. The pacing — natural, thoughtful, unhurried — felt almost like fine dining, but in a hidden little shop. You never know what subtle surprise the next dish will bring ☀️ On a sunny afternoon, we tried the mouthwatering chicken, spinach dumplings, “cockscomb” dumplings, and lava buns. The chicken was delicately spiced with a hidden numbing warmth 🌶️ Spinach dumplings had vibrant green wrappers with sweet, soupy filling. And the lava buns… fluffy outside with grated coconut, bursting with rich salty-sweet egg yolk filling that melts slowly over your tongue 🥚💛 I’m out of words — and space. Sat by the street, chatted with lovely strangers at the next table, laughed over silly jokes… No matter what — in a city like Berlin, that can feel cold even in summer — this place has become my little sanctuary. A massage for the spirit 🧘✨ #Berlin #BerlinFood #BerlinLife #GermanLife #ChineseFoodLover #StudyAbroadEats #ComfortFood
