🇩🇪 Bremen, Germany: Exploring a Fairytale Town 🏰
For my Germany trip, I chose Bremen as a base to visit friends living about a 45-minute drive away. Located in northwestern Germany, Bremen is a charming university city known for its music and enchanting architecture—it truly feels like stepping into a fairytale town.✨ In the morning, we headed to the Werder Bremen football stadium, which offers free parking. Unfortunately, since advance booking was required, we couldn’t enter the museum or the stadium that day and ended up just browsing the souvenir shop.✨ 🏛 Exploring the City Center Bremen isn’t very big, and most of the attractions are concentrated in the city center. I started at the Town Hall (Rathaus), the cathedral, and the Roland Statue—landmarks that represent Bremen’s history and culture. The Town Hall boasts unique architectural style, while the Roland Statue symbolizes the city’s freedom. That day, I also stumbled upon a protest march. Traffic lights were turned off due to a sit-in, and though my car was stuck, everything remained calm and orderly—a scene that made me appreciate the city’s atmosphere of tolerance.✨ 🍽 For lunch, we chose Beck's Muhle, a windmill-themed restaurant near the city center. The vibe was fantastic—it’s a converted old windmill! We tried classic German dishes like Currywurst and fried Matjes fish. Sitting outdoors, basking in the gentle sun while enjoying great food, was pure bliss.✨ 🎶 After lunch, we returned downtown just in time for a small music festival. A live band was performing in the square, surrounded by locals leisurely sipping coffee or beer, soaking in the music and the relaxed weekend atmosphere. The nearby market was filled with stalls selling fresh fruits, vegetables, and my favorite—sourdough bread! I couldn’t resist buying a sweet, malty loaf recommended by a friendly German vendor. So delicious! 📸 Afterwards, we took a 10-minute walk to Schnoor Quarter. This street is like something straight out of a fairytale—lined with historic buildings and unique local shops. Every angle is Instagram-worthy! 🍴 For dinner, we spontaneously picked Kleiner Olymp. The place was packed with locals, both indoors and outdoors, radiating a strong sense of community. Even though we were initially told they were fully booked for the next two days, our enthusiasm won the owner over, and he managed to find us a table outside. 🏨 This time, we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott next to Bremen Central Station. Although the hotel felt a bit dated and lacked USB ports, the location was super convenient. 🇩🇪 Little Notes on Germany Germans are big on wellness (even if it’s not always reflected in sausages and fried fish 😅)—you’ll see plenty of people jogging in the streets. Almost every supermarket product is clearly labeled with a health rating, and there are tons of high-protein options like bread and pudding. German supermarkets are a fitness lover’s paradise! ❤️ #Bremen #Germany #TravelGermany #Adventure #FoodExploration ✨
