🇩🇪 Brunswick Day Trip: Strolling Through the Lion City 🦁
My podcast-loving friend Xiao Wangtou always inspires me to document life. After returning from Wolfsburg, we kept saying we'd visit Braunschweig—but this trip was totally spontaneous! Decided to go right before heading to Heidelberg, and off we went the next day. 1️⃣ Brunswick Palace Shopping Center (Schloss-Arkaden Braunschweig) 🎈 Planned to visit the "castle," but surprise—it’s actually a modern mall inside! The contrast between the historic exterior and contemporary interior was unexpected. 2️⃣ Happy Rizzi House 🎈 Xiao Wangtou said: "Standing here, you feel the clash of old and new architecture." This colorful, pop-art building is a photo magnet—perfect for Instagram! 📸 3️⃣ Brunswick Cathedral (Braunschweiger Dom) 🎈 Walked past the City Hall (Rathaus) and State Museum, then arrived at the warm, serene cathedral. Strolled from the square to dinner, soaking in the atmosphere. 4️⃣ Urfa Grill Restaurant 🎈 Originally wanted Kräckers Kitchen (famous for Rinderroulade—German beef rolls), but it was closed (Monday struggle!). Instead, tried this highly recommended Turkish spot. 🍖 Feast mode: The mixed grill platter could feed two hungry souls! Lamb: Tender, no gaminess—just like Chinese skewers! Chicken: Juicy and well-spiced. Bread: Reminded us of Xinjiang naan. Rice: A bit dry but flavorful. Salad: Weird taste (one bite was enough 😅), but the spicy-sour chili sauce saved it! 5️⃣ Henry the Lion Fountain (Heinrichsbrunnen) 🎈 Saw this epic lion statue on Xiaohongshu but couldn’t find it at first. Xiao Wangtou teased my obsession, but finally led me to it! His wisdom: "Look the opposite way of greatness to find new perspectives." 🦁💭 Final Thoughts Brunswick = history + quirkiness + great food. Perfect for a laid-back day trip! #GermanyTravel #StudyInGermany #Brunswick #GermanFood #HiddenGems
