🇩🇪 Food Guide Around Heidelberg 😆
Let me share some delicious eats near Heidelberg—covering Heidelberg, Mannheim, and Darmstadt! 😃 (So much good food… often gone before I remember to take pics 😂) 🍗 Cocodec Korean Fried Chicken (Heidelberg) Located near the Old Bridge 🏞️. Perfect on a sunny day—munch on crispy chicken while enjoying views of the old town. Their signature fried chicken portions are huge! Two people can’t finish – we always take leftovers home. 😋 🍲 Mi Qilin Chinese Restaurant (Heidelberg) Went twice this year. Their hot pot chicken is a specialty! Great for groups—go for the double layer with chicken and shrimp 🍤. Even the single layer is generous. Tried the Chongqing noodles on my birthday – just okay, not amazing. 🍜 Malatang Spots Mala (Mala Next Door) in Darmstadt: Been many times – tastes just like malatang in China! Highly recommend. Flex Kitchen (Heidelberg): Newly opened, used to be a Shanghai restaurant. Tried mild spice – not bad, but not memorable. ⚠️ Mala Town (Stuttgart): Also delicious, but avoid the numbing peppercorn flavor—it’s extremely salty! 🥟 SOBAN Korean Restaurant (Heidelberg/Mannheim) My ultimate go-to Korean place 🥇 – been over 10 times! Beef and vermicelli soup 🍲: Perfect for those who don’t like spice. Steamed and pan-fried dumplings: Chive filling – veryyy good! ⚠️ Avoid the spicy rib soup unless you handle heat well – it’s painfully spicy! 🌶️🔥 🍛 Jiu Mei Restaurant (Heidelberg Uni Campus – now closed 😢) Their big plate chicken was amazing – tender and flavorful. Also great malatang and stir-fries. Sadly closed now – but you can try Mi Qilin instead. 🍣🍜🍦 Other mentions: Sushi, ice cream, and Shin Ramyun on Heidelberg’s Hauptstraße; grilled fish and Chinese dishes in Frankfurt; more great Chinese food in Darmstadt… Next time I’ll remember: “Phone eats first!” 📱😉 #Heidelberg #Darmstadt #GermanFood #StudyInGermany #FoodieGuide 🇩🇪✨
