🇩🇪 Germany | Drachenburg Castle 🏰
Germany is home to the largest number of castles in the world — around 15,000 in total! Drachenburg Castle is located in the charming town of Königswinter near Bonn. Perched atop Drachenfels Hill, this elegant French-style private castle is a true classic. Today, it serves as a museum. Its original owner was Stephan von Sarter, a financial expert born in Bonn in 1882 who made his career in Paris. As a banker and a duke, he embodied the luxurious and leisurely lifestyle of Germany's upper class at the time. The castle is absolutely stunning — it’s hard to believe people lived like this back in the 19th century! Every windowpane and every corner is meticulously carved and decorated. Even by today’s standards, it would be an incredibly comfortable and luxurious place to live. Interestingly, it’s said that the owner never actually lived here — he remained in Paris for work until his passing. From the castle, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the town and the Rhine Valley, known as the "Mother River" of Germany. 🏞️ The scenery is truly magnificent. There’s also a restaurant at the castle — sipping white wine here while taking in the views is pure bliss. 🍷 It’s not too crowded, and you won’t see many people taking -style photos, so you can enjoy a peaceful and leisurely visit. 📍Schloss Drachenburg Drachenfelsstraße 118, 53639 Königswinter #Germany #LifeInGermany #Bonn #AroundBonn #Castles #GermanCastles
