A one-day city walk is all it takes to traverse this poetic and romantic city. 【One-Day Itinerary】 📍 Drivers can park near Kornmarkt (Grain Market). Total walking distance: ~4km. Attractions in order: Funicular to the Castle → Marktplatz → Church of the Holy Spirit → Heidelberg University → Old Bridge → Philosophers' Way (via steps after the bridge) → Hauptstraße → Return to parking. 🔹 Kornmarkt Park at “Parkhaus am Schloss (P12)” – €1.5/3h. 🔹 Heidelberg Castle Take the funicular from Kornmarkt (combo ticket €14) or walk ~30min. No ticket needed to enjoy the panoramic view over Heidelberg and the Neckar River 🏞️. 🔹 Marktplatz The central square surrounded by fountains, town hall, and cafés. Perfect for a coffee break ☕. Weekends offer markets and street food. 🔹 Church of the Holy Spirit Climb the tower (30 mins) for a stunning view of the old town ⛪. 🔹 Heidelberg University Germany’s oldest university 🎓—where many great philosophers and writers studied or taught. Ideal for dining, shopping, and relaxing after your walk.
