🇩🇪 Half-Day Trip to Drachenburg Castle in Bonn
After checking into the hotel in Bonn at noon, we immediately caught the 13:00 boat to Königswinter 🚢. The ride offered lovely views along the Rhine—though it was quite long (about an hour!). After getting off at the Königswinter pier, it was a 10+ minute walk uphill to the cog railway station 🚞. Trains run every 10 minutes. The station offers combo tickets for the train and castle entry, but since we had a boat + train combo ticket, we bought the castle entry separately at the site. We took the train all the way up to Drachenfels first 🏔️, enjoyed the stunning panoramic views, then hiked down the steep path to Drachenburg Castle 🏰. The interior of Schloss Drachenburg is extravagantly luxurious—stained glass windows, grand halls, and breathtaking views from every window 😍✨. We were so captivated that we missed the 16:05 return boat 😅! Instead, we took the U66 train back to Bonn Hauptbahnhof. By 17:00, we reached Bonn Minster (Bonner Münster) ⛪. If you have time, step through the side door to see the 900-year-old Kreuzgang (Cloister) and the serene inner courtyard—absolutely peaceful. We also made quick stops at the Haribo Shop 🍭, the Beethoven Statue, and even spotted the Beethoven traffic light 🚦❤️! ⚠️ Half a day is definitely too short for a proper visit—it’s more like a quick highlight tour than a relaxed exploration. Ideally, spend one full day: famous spots in Bonn in the morning 🏛️, Drachenburg in the afternoon 🐉, and add museums if you have extra time! #Germany #Bonn #DrachenburgCastle #RhineValley #TravelEurope #QuickTrip
