Slowly but surely, I’ve found some lovely little eateries around town — tasty, affordable, and full of character! 🍽️✨ Piccoli’s Roadhouse 🍖 (American Diner) A cozy spot styled like a classic American roadside joint. Their mixed grill platter (for two) is around €35 and comes with fries and salad — tender, flavourful, and perfect for a casual weekend catch-up with friends. Happy Kumpir 🥔 (Turkish Stuffed Baked Potato) Their signature baked potatoes are loaded with cheese, meat, sauces, and fresh veggies — hearty, warm, and super filling! They have two branches in Hannover — the one not at Steintor is a bit nicer inside. You can smell the goodness from down the street! Omely 🍲 (Vietnamese Restaurant) Their weekday lunch special — Sichuan-style beef with rice — is just €9! Spicy, savoury, with a doubanjiang kick 🥵. Goes great with hot & sour soup or fried dumplings. 💳 Card minimum: €15. bona’me 🥙 (Turkish Food Hall) Cafeteria style — grab a card at the entrance, tap it at each station, and pay at the end. Spacious, relaxed, ideal for groups or family meals. Their grilled meat and desserts are consistently good! Café Mönikes 🍰 (German Cake Shop) A traditional German bakery where each slice of cake is around €3 — rich, dense, and definitely not “light” cake! It gets busy on weekends (be prepared to queue), but totally worth it. Al Sham – Arabische Konditorei 🧆(Arabic Sweets) A hidden gem! They serve treats like soft, chewy Lokum (similar to Turkish delight) — very unique texture. Super sweet 🍯, best enjoyed with tea or black coffee. Perfect when a sugar craving hits! All of these are personal favourites — not super hyped online, but seriously good and fairly priced.
