🇩🇪 Jena, Germany|A Hidden Fairytale Escape|Hiking Paradise
I arrived in Germany during the peak of the pandemic 🦠 to study at Friedrich Schiller University Jena 🎓 – one of Germany’s oldest universities, nestled in a small but magical town surrounded by lush green mountains. While Jena’s city center is tiny (you can explore it in a day!), its real charm lies in its breathtaking hiking trails ⛰️. 🌿 Why Jena? 📍 Thuringia – Germany’s "Green Heart" Jena sits in the middle of Germany, surrounded by forests and rolling hills – a true oxygen paradise! 🏡 My Student Life on a Hill I live in a student dorm perched on a hill (no buses, just 20-min walks to the city center). Every day, I pass quaint cottages with colorful mailboxes, blooming gardens, and peaceful forest paths. 🥾 Hiking Adventures • Jenzig Mountain (the most famous one – still on my to-do list! ✅) • Weekend Hikers’ Haven – Locals love trekking here for fresh air and stunning views. • University Canteen Mid-Hike? Yes! There’s even a cafeteria halfway up the hill 🍽️. 📸 Snapshots of Jena 🍂 Golden Autumn Trails – Every hike feels like walking through a painting. 🏠 Fairytale Houses – Villas with matching mailboxes and flower-filled gardens. 😷 Mask Culture? Slowly changing… but Germans still love their outdoor freedom! ✈️ Traveler’s Tip If you’re visiting Weimar or Erfurt, add Jena to your list! Perfect for a half-day hike or a peaceful escape from city life. #Jena #HiddenGermany #HikingAdventures #StudyAbroad #Thuringia #GreenHeartOfGermany #FriedrichSchillerUniversity
