🇩🇪 Munich Hiking | Alpine Hidden Gem Lakes 🏞️

After 5 years of hiking around Munich, I’ve explored almost every treasure lake in the German Alps — all accessible by public transport! 🚆 This is Part 1 of a 3-series guide. Most lakes here are beginner-friendly — perfect for a day trip! Follow for more updates 👣 📍 Eibsee (Best: June–Oct) ⏱️ Hike: 1h 50min (loop) | ❄️ Walk on the frozen lake in winter! ⭐ Difficulty: Easy (gentle slopes) 🚞 Transport: From Munich Hbf (Platform 27) RB6 → Garmisch → Bus 9840 (2h 23min) 📍 Walchensee ⏱️ Hike: 3–4 hours (not full loop — takes 5.5h+). Better for biking! 🚴 ⭐ Difficulty: Easy (kid-friendly paths) 🚌 Transport: RB66 from Munich Hbf (Platforms 27–33) → Kochel → Bus 9608 📍 Schrecksee (Best: July–Sept) ⏱️ Hike: 5–6 hours (challenging) ⭐ Difficulty: High (rocky trails — hiking boots required! 👟) 🚞 Transport: Train to Sonthofen → Bus 48 → Bad Hindelang → Bus 49 → Bus 50 (€3.3 cash) → Hike starts at Hinterstein Auele (3h 16min travel + 3h+ hike). Not for beginners! 📍 Tegernsee (Year-round) ⏱️ Hike: 4–5 hours (lakeside strolls work too!) ⭐ Difficulty: Easy 🚞 Transport: RB57 from Munich Hbf (Platform 33) → Tegernsee (1h 10min) 📍 Alpsee (Best: October 🍂) ⏱️ Hike: 1h 30min (loop) ⭐ Difficulty: Easy (some rocky sections) 🚞 Transport: Train from Munich Hbf (Platform 31) → Bus 73/78 → Neuschwanstein Castle stop (~3h) 📸 Photo tip: Pindarplatz viewpoint — 2–3 PM sunlight makes the water glow! ✨ 🎒 Must-Bring: Hiking boots 🥾 Sunglasses 😎 Waterproof jacket 🌧️ 1L water 💧 Cash (some buses/tickets require it!) 📲 Apps & Tips: Use DB App for routes (no signal in mountains!)
