🇩🇪 Pilgrimage to Nördlingen
Finally made it to Nördlingen, the town that inspired Attack on Titan! 🏰✨ As a long-time fan, I’ve always wanted to visit. Since there aren’t many guides online taking the train from Stuttgart, here’s my experience for reference: 1️⃣ Transportation 🚞 I took the 9:20 AM train from Stuttgart Hbf, transferred at Aalen Hbf, and arrived at Nördlingen at 11:13 AM. The ride was smooth with no delays, few passengers, and beautiful views along the way. 🌄 2️⃣ Route After arrival, I navigated to Deining Gate 🚪. After a 5–6 minute walk, I saw the town wall – this is where you enter the old town! Once inside, I headed straight to St. Daniel's Church ⛪. I initially went inside thinking the staircase to the top was there, but couldn’t find it. Then I remembered a guide mentioning the entrance has a red sign – after some searching, I finally found it! It’s super hidden, so keep an eye out. Then began the climb – first a dizzying spiral staircase, then a normal one. The walls were covered in graffiti from AoT fans 🖊️❤️, which got me super excited. Halfway up, I even saw "tatakae!" written on the steps – instant motivation to climb 100 more floors! 🏃♀️💨 At the ticket office, a friendly grandpa greeted us. Entrance is €4 per person. There’s a thick red notebook where visitors leave messages. Then you can climb all the way to the top – and wow, the view is stunning! It looks exactly like in the anime. At that moment, I really wished I had ODM gear 😂 I brought my own cloak (you can also borrow one from the grandpa). Two foreign guys saw my cloak, their eyes lit up, and they said "Kon'nichiwa!" 👋😂 Standing atop the tower, looking at the town inside the walls and the world outside, I was deeply moved – it felt like the anime had come to life. Tears almost fell 🥲 The blur between reality and the story felt truly magical. It was windy and cold that day, so I took some photos and headed down. I wandered around town, walked along the wall to Reimlingen Gate, and found a Döner shop 🌯 – tasted amazing! The weather cleared up, and the whole town felt peaceful and isolated – just like the people inside the walls in the anime. Had to head back early due to evening plans. Exited from Reimlingen Gate – which looks exactly like Maria Wall! – and walked 7–8 minutes back to the station. Absolutely loved this town! Would definitely come back. Hope all AoT fans can visit one day! 🤍 #Pilgrimage #Nordlingen #AttackOnTitanTown #AoT #Germany
