🇩🇪 Study Abroad Diary D606: A Chaotic Day Trip to Ulm & Munich 🚂🌞
🌙 Sleep-Deprived Start 2am bedtime, 7am wake-up—survived on homemade rice noodles and a fried egg 🍳. Grateful for cheap student meals! 8:40am: Dragged myself out the door. 🚆 ICE Train Horror 11am arrival in Ulm via overcrowded ICE train—aisles packed like Chinese New Year migration 🏃♂️💨. "If I don’t catch COVID after this, I’m invincible." 😷 🛄 Ulm Exploration €3 luggage storage + €9 day ticket. Route: 1️⃣ Rathaus (Town Hall): Colorful frescoes! 2️⃣ Ulm Minster: Germany’s tallest spire (161m)—so cold inside it felt like AC ❄️. Napped like a medieval monk. 😴 3️⃣ Einstein Fountain: Laughably tiny—more of a puddle with a plaque. 4️⃣ Danube River: Not blue, just murky green 🌊. Odd sights: Love locks on a heart-shaped window grille 💘. A kid throwing a coin into a fountain ("Make a wish!" his brother said). ⏳ Ulm Verdict 3 hours is enough—it’s adorably small. Train to Munich: Delayed 1 hour (shocking). 🚍 Munich → Garmisch Nightmare Train stopped midway, everyone kicked off 🚧. Replaced by buses ("Did another train derail?" No news, just rumors.). Bus chaos: Standing room only, a woman with a "I-packed-my-entire-life" backpack 🎒 looming over me. ("Need help?" "Nein.") 💡 Lessons Learned: 1️⃣ German trains hate schedules. 2️⃣ Ulm is cute but compact. 3️⃣ Always pack snacks + patience. #StudyAbroadStruggles #Ulm #Munich #GermanTransport #TravelFail
