🇩🇪 Travel in Germany | My Heart Was Left in Heidelberg 💔✨
Goethe once said, "I left my heart in Heidelberg." Because of these words, I decided to embark on this journey even when I was exhausted and almost gave up. This was the final stop of my trip to Germany. Heidelberg is one of the few cities that survived World War II. Its original half-timbered houses have been preserved, and the stone bridges, ancient castles, and red-tiled roofs paint the style of the old town. The medieval European cityscape makes the entire city feel like a poem. Romance is everywhere, but what stands out more is the comfort and relaxation it offers. I took a train from Frankfurt, which took about an hour. My one-day itinerary included: Heidelberg Castle 🏰, Hauptstraße 🛍️, Old Bridge 🌉, Philosophers' Way 🚶♂️, and Heidelberg University 🎓. Heidelberg Castle Offers a stunning view of the entire city and the Old Bridge. The red-roofed houses are fully visible, looking just like a fairy tale setting. The castle, damaged by wars, now stands in a semi-ruined state. Yet, even in its form, one can easily imagine its past grandeur. Hauptstraße (Main Street) Is filled with unique little shops. I was pleasantly surprised to find many stylish baseball caps in one of the stores— the designs were fantastic! My travel buddies couldn’t resist shopping 🛒. There are also plenty of distinctive restaurants, many highly recommended by netizens. Old Bridge The charm of the ancient city is fully displayed here. Feel the breeze from the Neckar River, enjoy the beautiful views on both sides of the bridge, and experience the postcard-like scenery. Walk, pause, and soak in the comfort and romance. Don’t forget the bronze monkey statue at the bridge entrance— legend says touching its right index finger ensures your return to Heidelberg, while touching the mirror in its left hand brings good luck 🍀. Philosophers' Way This green path may seem ordinary, but it was once walked by many famous figures— Goethe, Marx, Hegel, and more. Follow in their footsteps, stroll slowly, think, and daydream. It’s an excellent choice for hiking enthusiasts. If you have the energy, take your time and enjoy the walk. Heidelberg University Many say it’s worth a visit, but I didn’t have time to go due to my schedule. As the oldest university in Germany, it boasts a long history and outstanding academic reputation. If you can watch the sunset in Heidelberg, it would undoubtedly elevate the romance. This small town is full of poetic charm, making it hard to leave. #GermanyTravel #Heidelberg #HeidelbergDayTrip #GermanyTravelGuide #EuropeTravel
