🇩🇪 Ultimate Guide to Drachenburg Castle 🏰

If you're wondering where to go, head to Drachenburg Castle in Königswinter! ✨ ⏰ Be sure to set aside at least half a day for your visit—it gets super crowded on holidays! 🏨 Accommodation tip: Stay in Bonn — it’s more convenient than Cologne and incredibly beautiful and clean. I absolutely love it! 😍 🚆 How to get to Drachenburg: From Bonn: Take a bus + RE/RB train and get off at Königswinter. 🚡 Getting to the Castle (cog railway only): Follow signs for "Tourismusinformation" until you reach the cog railway station. You can buy tickets on-site or online. If it’s crowded, I highly recommend buying online to skip the ticket line and join the railway queue directly. 🎫 Cog Railway & Castle Tickets: No student discount for the cog railway. To take photos at popular spots (like the one in Figure 1), you need a castle ticket. You can buy a combo ticket (railway + castle) or purchase them separately. Student discounts are available for castle tickets if bought on-site. The total cost is roughly the same. ⚠️ Very important note: The cog railway has three stops: 1️⃣ Base of the mountain 2️⃣ Middle station (get off here for Drachenburg Castle 🏰 — don’t go to the top yet!) 3️⃣ Summit If you miss the middle station, no worries — the train stops there again on the way down. You can still visit the castle! 🔙 Return trip: To go back, take the RE/RB train from the opposite platform. Use the underground passage from your arrival platform to reach the other side. If Deutsche Bahn (db) cancels your train (as it sometimes does 😅), you can take the metro instead (approx. 40 minutes). #Germany #TravelGuide #TravelTips #Tourism #Bonn
