🇪🇸 Alicante Travel Guide 🌊
I spent a week in Alicante doing work exchange, coinciding with the San Juan Festival—honestly, one of the most relaxing times of my life! Here’s everything you need to know: 🚌 Public Transport Airport → City: Take Bus C6 (Arrivals level, credit card payment OK). Get off at Puerta del Mar—right by the seaside promenade Getting Around: Most attractions are walkable, or take the metro (~€1+ per ride). 🏖️ Must-See Attractions 🏰 Santa Bárbara Castle – Free entry! Hike up or take the elevator (€2+ up, free down). 💙 Carrer de Sant Rafael – A picturesque blue-painted neighborhood below the castle (my host’s Airbnb spot—always packed with tourists!). ⛪ Basilica of Santa María – Student ticket ~€3 (photo ID accepted). 🏛️ Alicante Town Hall – Sundays host a vintage flea market in the square! 🍒 Mercado Central – €3 for a giant bag of cherries + juicy flat peaches. 😋 🍄 The Mushroom Street – Cute cafés and souvenir shops. 🏛️ Archaeological Museum (MARQ) – Student ticket €3, open till 10 PM. 🎨 MACA (Modern Art Museum) – Free, near the basilica (closes 8 PM). 🖼️ MUBAG (Fine Arts Museum) – Also free (bags require €1 locker deposit—staff can lend coins). Bonus: The Mercat district is perfect for city walks—full of churches, shops, and buzzing cafés! 🍴 Food & Drinks ☕ Santa Gloria Coffee & Bakery – Their spanakopita (with blue cheese!) is chef’s kiss. My daily journaling spot! 🍦 Gelato di Sicilia – Top 3 in Spain! Affordable, with amazing tiramisu flavor. 🌹 Amorino – Fancy rose-shaped gelato (~€8 for medium + macaron). 🍹 Calle 365 – A Coco (Disney)-themed bar with free welcome shot! 🛅 Luggage Storage Beachside lockers: €6/day (super handy!). #Spain #TravelSpain #Alicante #Valencia #HiddenGems #BudgetTravel #WorkExchange #BeachVibes #SanJuanFestival
