🇪🇸 Barcelona Wine Bar – Philadelphia Spanish Tapas
Finally gathered three people to try this Spanish spot — tapas exceeded expectations, though the paella fell a bit short. 🍞 Complimentary Bread Slightly salty, soft inside (almost like Chinese fagao!), crusty outside — delicious but a bit scratchy on the edges. 🍄 Mushroom A La Plancha Portobello mushrooms + green sauce (more like pesto?). Tasty but oily. 🐷 Pork Belly So crispy! Crackling skin, tender meat, no porky smell. Topped with tangy red pepper-tomato mix — almost like Guizhou red sour soup flavor 😋. 🥪 Truffled Bikini Crispy butter-toasted sandwich with cheese + ham — so good! 🥺 Though truffle flavor was MIA. 🥟 Spiced Beef Empanadas Like fried dumplings with meatball-marinara filling. Red pepper sauce on the side had strong bell pepper flavor. 🍆 Eggplant Caponata Sweet & savory stewed eggplant with tomato, bell peppers, onion — salty but delicious, would be perfect over rice! 🌭 Chorizo with Sweet & Sour Figs MVP of the meal! Savory, spicy sausage pan-seared and glazed in sweet sauce. The chorizo itself was incredibly fragrant — like Chinese 😭. (Watch out for the super-sweet figs though!) 🥩 Steak Paillard Thinly sliced steak — sadly overcooked and tough. Topped with fine fried potatoes and a strange red pepper vinaigrette. 🥘 Paella Mariscos The letdown. My Qingdao-native friend said the seafood tasted frozen and fishy. Rice was overly salty from the tomato-seafood broth. 🍰 Basque Burnt Cheesecake Classic Basque cheesecake — not too sweet for me, but friends found it sweet. Had a faint cheesy tang. #PhillyEats #SpanishFood #BarcelonaWineBar #TapasLover #FoodReview #PhillyFoodie
