🇪🇸 Basque Country Exploration at the Spain-France Border

🚗 Road Trip from Barcelona We drove about 5.5 hours and stayed at a countryside民宿 (guesthouse) in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. This coastal town is small — you can explore it in just an hour. We bought some local chocolates and macarons, but they were just okay — not highly recommended. 🅿️ Parking Tip: There’s a large free parking lot near the train station. Cross the tunnel to reach the town center, and the Atlantic coastline is within walking distance. 🍽️ LA DIVA RESTAURANT Since many restaurants are closed on Sundays, we randomly picked this one with decent Google reviews. They offer a French menu: starter + main course + dessert for €24 — super affordable! You can choose prawns or shellfish for the starter. The food wasn’t mind-blowing but was solid and satisfying. Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🚞 Le Train de La Rhune The next morning, we visited the La Rhune Mountain in the Pyrenees. At the base, you can take a cogwheel train up the summit. Even in late September (off-peak), we booked tickets online the night before. Round-trip ticket: €24. We took the 10:10 AM train up and returned at 12:10 PM. It’s chilly at the top — dress warmly! With kids, we skipped hiking, but many locals徒步登顶 (hike to the summit). Along the train route, you’ll see grazing Basque ponies 🐎. At the top, you can glimpse the Atlantic coastline!
