🇪🇸 Mérida | The Noble, Ancient & Loyal City
💗Founded in 24 BC by Augustus' legions, Mérida served as Rome's last stronghold in Spain. Officially titled "Most Noble, 🌊Ancient and Loyal City of Mérida", it became my perfect stopover en route from Madrid to Lisbon - mainly to visit its legendary Roman Art Museum. 🏛️ National Museum of Roman Art Architect: Rafael Moneo (1986)🎟️ €3 (free under 25) ✨ The poured-concrete brick walls echo ancient Roman techniques. Sunlight streaming through high windows creates breathtaking plays of shadow and light.Note: Underground galleries were temporarily closed during my visit. 🏟️ Mérida Monumental Complex 🎟️ €16 (student €8) combo ticket covers: Roman Theatre & Amphitheatre. Alcazaba Fortress. Casa del Mitreo (Pompeii-like villa). Temple of Diana. Plus 4 other archaeological sites ⭕Tip: Tickets remain valid for multiple days. #SpainTravel #RomanArchitecture #ArtLovers
