π«π· A Weekend by the Sea in Saint-Malo π Brittany
Saint-Malo was an important trading port during the Age of Exploration and also a gathering place for French pirates π΄ββ οΈ. From Paris, it takes just over two hours to reach this charming coastal town π. You can make it a day trip on a weekend π, but I highly recommend staying overnight to catch a breathtaking seaside sunset π . Saint-Malo is also conveniently close to Mont Saint-Michel, so you can easily combine both destinations in a two-day weekend trip π§. Saint-Malo boasts a medieval walled city π°, beautiful coastlines ποΈ, and delicious seafood π¦ͺ. During the day, visit the tidal island Grand Be, take a leisurely stroll along the city walls, explore the charming streets of the old town, and then relax on the beach to watch the sunset π . Itβs the perfect way to unwind π. The church inside the old town is also worth a visit π. In addition to the tidal island, thereβs a tidal swimming pool by the sea, perfect for a refreshing dip πββοΈ during the summer. Food Recommendations π΄: - π¦ͺ La Cabane: Seafood buffet ranging from β¬39.5 to β¬105 πΆ. We went for the β¬39.5 option, and it was fantastic! When youβre by the sea, seafood is a must π€. Brittany is famous for its oysters, and Cancale near Saint-Malo is one of the most renowned oyster farming areas in France. Iβm already planning my next visit to try more π€€. - π₯§ Kouign Amann de Saint-Malo: Kouign Amann is a specialty of Brittany, a buttery cake π° thatβs worth trying. Unfortunately, we didnβt have much time to try more restaurants, but there are plenty of recommendations from local hotel owners on the map. Give them a try if you can read French πΊοΈ. π₯ Donβt miss out on the savory Galette, a type of crepe from Brittany. We had it in Rennes while transferring trains, but Iβm sure you can find it in Saint-Malo as well. Overall, the experience was delightful. The city has a very comfortable vibe, and itβs definitely a place Iβd love to visit again. #SaintMalo #Brittany #MontSaintMichel #ParisTravel
