🇫🇷 Colmar Food Guide | Braised Pork Knuckle Wins! 🏆
Without a reservation, I kept getting rejected — until I spotted this place filled with locals (especially seniors!). Walked in blindly and discovered a treasure: the most amazing pork knuckle! 📍 Le Fer Rouge A distinctive red-house restaurant 🏠 🕐 Open daily 12:00-22:00 No reservation needed — plenty of indoor/outdoor seating! 🥗 Starters (Entrée) Snail Salad (Salade d’Escargot): 12 snails in a light salad — milder flavor but refreshing! 🐌 🍖 Main Courses (Plats) 1️⃣ Fleischnakas: A traditional Alsatian dish shaped like a snail 🐌, made with minced pork and beef. Homestyle and comforting, with a flavorful broth. 2️⃣ Ballottine de Poulet: A French classic — deboned chicken stuffed with herbs, veggies, and mushrooms, rolled and tied 🍗. Crispy outside, cheesy inside — like a gourmet chicken roulade! 🧀 3️⃣ Braised Pork Knuckle (Jambonneau): THE STAR! Tender, juicy, and incredibly flavorful — especially the gelatinous parts! Unlike German-style crispy knuckle, this one is richer but less greasy. A must-try! 🐖✨ 🍷 Drinks Riesling White Wine: Full-bodied and aromatic — would make amazing sangria! 🍇 #France #TravelFrance #Alsace #AlsaceWine #Colmar #ColmarTravel #ColmarFood #FrenchCuisine
