🇬🇧 Best Meal Since Returning to the UK a Month and a Half Ago
Chez Bruce This restaurant has been on my to-try list for ages. It's not a trendy spot, nor does it have any flashy marketing gimmicks or collaborations with world-famous chefs. As one of the few remaining Michelin-starred restaurants in the area, it feels particularly special. But honestly, its location near these two developments made it tricky to visit in the past couple of years. 😅 This year, however, we moved to a new building just a 15-minute walk away, and we seized the opportunity to finally check it out at lunchtime! Two of us, five dishes, and every single one was a hit! 💰 Average spend: £100. 🦞 Lobster Ravioli – The lobster here is so fresh that it's almost an understatement. It's huge, massive, easily the size of two lobster tails! The pasta is cooked to perfection, with a delightful eggy aroma. The classic lobster sauce is elevated with brown shrimp, tomatoes, and scallions. It's truly amazing. We even thought the sauce was better than what we had at Sketch! 🦞 🐑 Lamb Ragu Pasta – Ordered by my dining companion, I didn't get a photo, but I did get a taste. It was delicious, rich, and aromatic. The Maillard reaction took it to the next level, with the flavors deepened after the fats were caramelized. It's a testament to the chef's skill. 🐑 🦆 Devon Duck – The star of the show was the liver that came with it! A thin slice of pure fat on a bed of layered potatoes, tender and fragrant. It was like watching a high school basketball player glistening with sweat – pure, unadulterated deliciousness! 🦆 🐮 Veal Cheek and Beef Fillet – The veal cheek was tender and falling apart, while the beef fillet was pink, juicy, and succulent. The combination of soft and firm textures, along with buttery peas and crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside potatoes, made for an unforgettable dish. 🥩 PS: Classic French cuisine with a touch of Mediterranean inspiration. 🌟 #LondonRestaurant #WhereToEatInLondon #LondonLife
