🇬🇧 Glasgow: The Underrated Metropolis You NEED to Visit! 🏙️🏴
Originally, our Scotland 🏴 + Northern Ireland 🇮🇪 trip had us skipping Glasgow—but Edinburgh's crazy hotel prices forced us here. Surprise! Two nights in a Glasgow apartment (with kitchen!) cost less than one night in Edinburgh. And wow—Glasgow is HUGE! Not just Scotland's largest city, but top 3 in all of Britain. Our bad for underestimating you! 🚶♀️ Our Classic 1-Day Itinerary: 📍 University of Glasgow 🏛️ 600+ years old, with Hogwarts-worthy arches (perfect for photos!). Fun fact: Adam Smith was rector here! Hunterian Museum: Cool but creepy (animal specimens + human anatomy displays 😱). 📍 Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum 🖼️ Unexpected gem! Monet, Van Gogh, Renoir, Picasso—all FREE. Star piece: Dalí’s "Christ of St. John of the Cross" (mind-blowing top-down crucifixion view!). "Inspired by dreams?" Sure, Dalí... 😏 📍 Glasgow Cathedral ⛪ Where Glasgow began! Missed the interior (closed at 4 PM), but the sooty Gothic exterior (Scotland’s only surviving medieval cathedral) was still epic. 📍 Necropolis ⚰️ "The Batman" filming spot! Walked the eerie gravel paths in drizzling rain ☔—perfectly spooky. Found the hidden lower cemetery where Batman/Catwoman said goodbye on a motorcycle! 🏍️ 📍 Street Art (St. Mungo Mural) 🎨 Braved the rain to see this modern twist on Glasgow’s patron saint. Pro tip: Glasgow’s murals are a whole attraction—we barely scratched the surface! 💡 Takeaways: Walked 10K+ steps and still only saw fractions of the city. Art + history + moody vibes = Glasgow’s magic formula. BudgetWin: Way cheaper than Edinburgh! #HiddenGems #UKTravel #Scotland #GlasgowAdventures #SoloTravel
