🇬🇧 Travel Hack: Visiting Scotney Castle with NT's Free Family Pass!
Got the National Trust's free family pass and decided to make the most of it! After exploring Knole House and Chartwell House, this time we headed to Scotney Castle—a hidden gem nestled between Kent and Sussex, just 1-1.5 hours from London by car. 🚗💨 📍 Getting There & Entry: Free for NT members (but non-members pay £4.50 per car). Pre-book your parking slot online—staff will check your reservation at the gate. Simply scan your pass barcode at the entrance to get your cute little admission sticker! 🏷️ 🏰 What to See: 1️⃣ The Medieval Old Castle Ruins – A charming, miniature fortress surrounded by a "moat," boathouse, ducks, and stunning gardens. Perfect for sunny-day photoshoots! 📸🌷 2️⃣ The Victorian Mansion House – Home to the Hussey family's collections, featuring original Victorian decor (check out the secret door in the library!). The second floor has some modern twists. 🚪✨ 3️⃣ Three Scenic Walking Trails – Great for dog walks or peaceful strolls. If you're lucky, you might even meet some friendly cows! 🐄🌿 🕰️ Opening Times: House & Castle: Open from 11 AM (Castle has a small bird & coastal photography exhibit). Gardens & Tea Room: Open from 10 AM. ☕ Tea Room Treats: Don’t miss the House Tea, Cheese Scone, and Flapjack—delicious and affordable! 😋🍪 💡 Why Visit? Scotney Castle may not be as grand as others, but its quaint charm, blooming gardens (especially in spring!), and relaxed vibe make it a perfect day trip from London. Plus, NT members get in for free! 🎉 #LondonDayTrips #HiddenGemsUK #CastleLovers #NationalTrust #WeekendGetaway#UKLife #StudyUK #UKTravel #UKAttractions
