🇬🇧 York | Yet Another Hidden Gem I’ve Found 🌟

🍃 The sunset by the river in York was more mesmerizing than the menu. That evening, the sun was just right, the breeze was gentle, and I was surrounded by elegantly dressed grandmas and grandpas. Sitting on the terrace, watching the sunset reflect on the river, I couldn’t help but wish I could live in York forever. If you’ve been stressed lately, need some alone time, or are looking for a perfect spot for a romantic date, I have to recommend this place: 📍 The Star Inn The City Recommended Time: A sunny evening! Sit on the outdoor terrace to watch the sunset and soak in the perfect ambiance (PS: It gets chilly at night, so if you’re cold, sit inside). 📷 What I Ate | Every Dish Was Amazing: 1⃣ Roast Yorkshire Duck Breast (£26) This dish is divine! The duck breast is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, topped with a generous layer of toasted nuts (pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds... my nut-loving brain screamed with joy)! The accompanying stewed red cabbage is slightly tangy and refreshing, the root vegetables are soft and delicious, and the pastry-wrapped duck sausage is like a mini Wellington. After that first bite, I wanted to clap. The sauce is a balsamic reduction, sweet and tangy, perfectly complementing everything. This dish alone is worth a trip to York! 🥩 2⃣ Beef Burger + Skinny Chips (£13, Special Menu) The mustard sauce is brilliant—refreshing and cuts through the richness. The fries are super crispy, and this is hands-down the best burger and fries combo I’ve had in a while. 🍔 3⃣ Potted Mackerel Rillette (£6.5) The mackerel mousse is smooth and delicate, paired with pickled onions and cucumbers that add a tangy sweetness. Spread on warm, toasted bread, it’s crispy and light—a delightful appetizer. This was my first time trying this, and it was a delightful surprise! 🐟 4⃣ Chocolate & Peanut Butter Mousse Cake All dessert lovers, gather around! The peanut butter mousse is incredibly smooth, and the cake is filled with generous chunks of nuts. The combination of ice cream, chocolate sauce, and a crispy base made me almost ask the waiter for another slice! 🍰 I’ve been documenting my culinary adventures on my little notebook, which is also a great way to unwind during my PhD life!
