π¬πͺ Sighnaghi Day Trip (With Winery Recommendations)
Sighnaghi offers two main routes: Starting from the fork in the road opposite the kindergarten: Route 1 (Right): Continue uphill for red wine ice cream and climb to the viewpoint for panoramic valley views. Route 2 (Left): Descend into the town to explore historic walls and towers. π· Red Wine Ice Cream: Two shops now sell it β go to CafΓ© Medea! Their wine sauce is rich and decadent. Eat quickly β it melts fast! The owner recommended several local wineries (see red circles ). π° Town Highlights: Sighnaghi retains its 18th-century layout, with cobblestone streets and wooden balconies creating a unique atmosphere. Climb the walls and towers (be cautious: narrow stairs, single-file only!). Souvenir shops are plentiful but underwhelming β browse lightly. π Wine Experience: Sighnaghi lies in Kakheti, Georgiaβs ancient wine region with 8,000 years of winemaking history. We visited Kerovani Winery (recommended by the ice cream owner + high Google ratings). Location: Alley opposite the kindergarten fork β take the right path facing the theater. Vibe: Family-run restaurant + winery. Order from photos on the ownerβs phone! Food: Try the fried potatoes β huge portion (enough for 2-3 people!). Wine: Choose 1 of 8 single wines or a tasting flight of 4 (45 GEL/person). We shared two flights to try all 8 wines! π₯ Experience: Pre-meal cellar tour: Learn about traditional clay jar (qvevri) winemaking (sealed with sand!). Wine served light to heavy with explanations. Curious about chacha (Georgian grape brandy, like)? They offered us a taste! Staff know some wine-related Chinese terms (many Chinese visitors!). β³ Time Tip: Sighnaghi is small β one day is enough. For a slower pace, stay overnight and soak in the vibes! πΆ #Georgia #Sighnaghi #Wine #Travel #TravelGuide
