🇮🇱 Philly|Zahav – The Flatbread That Changed Everything 🫓

📍 Zahav – 237 St James Pl, Philadelphia, PA 19106 One of Philly’s hardest-to-book spots — always fully booked months ahead. Recently found they occasionally release weeknight tables, so I grabbed one for my 24th birthday 🎂. 💰 Only a $75/person tasting menu — easy choice and huge portions. The menu says “Oct 25” but apparently it rarely changes 😅. Main options were limited — wanted the lion’s mane mushroom or branzino, but both were gone… so lamb shoulder it was 🐑. 🍷 Wine pairing: $45/person for three glasses — rose, wine, champagne — all exclusive imports from an Israeli winery. The waiter hooked me up extra for being the “birthday girl” 🥂. Chef Solomonov’s first restaurant — also behind K’far and Laser Wolf. 🥗 First Course: Giant laffa bread + hummus + 6 small veggie salads. As someone who usually avoids carbs and grease… this oily, fluffy flatbread was a revelation! Soft, sweet, chewy — I’d buy it for breakfast. The salads were vibrant and tasty — this round alone could fill you up. 🧀 Second Course: Choose two appetizers. Honestly… just okay. I picked a crudo (fish didn’t taste fresh) and a squash dish I took one bite of 😬. They also sent a “secret menu” item — peach-flavored cheese sticks — interesting but not my style. 🐑 Main Course: Lamb shoulder. Slow-cooked, tender, slightly sweet, and very lamb-forward — if you love lamb, you’ll love this. Reminded me of the lamb at Talula’s Garden. 🍮 Dessert: Chocolate mousse(?) + two gelatos. By then I was stuffed — the chocolate was too sweet with a weird spice note. The gelato was refreshing though — lime maybe? #Philly #PhillyEats #ZahavPhilly #IsraeliFood #TastingMenu #BirthdayMeal #PhillyLife 📸🥂
