🇮🇸 Iceland | Reykjavík Is Worth an Extra Day or Two! + Route Tips

Reykjavík surprised me in the best way possible. I spent three days relaxing here—the city center is compact but charming, perfect for slow exploration by the sea. 🌅 Morning: Start by visiting Hallgrímskirkja. Buy tickets (1400 ISK per person), take the elevator to the 8th floor, then climb two more flights of stairs. The view from the top is breathtaking—perfect for photos of the ocean in soft morning light. 🌈 Late Morning: Walk toward the sea under the gentle sunlight. You’ll pass colorful houses—great for street photography. Stop by Rainbow Street for coffee and pastries. The Sun Voyager sculpture is simple, but the sea behind it glows beautifully in the sunlight. 🦢 Tjörnin Lake in the Morning: Perfect for photographing swans and ducks with the iconic green-domed church (Fríkirkjan) in the background. The autumn colors and houses across the lake are also picturesque. 🌆 Tjörnin Lake in the Afternoon: Ideal for capturing the church in golden light. Bring some bread, relax in the sun, and feed the swans and ducks. ⛪ Hallgrímskirkja in the Late Afternoon: The church glows golden in the sunset—no more backlight! 🛍️ Shopping: Skip the overhyped Omnom chocolate (way too sweet!). Try the puffin-packaged one instead—it’s pretty good. I fell in love with puffins and bought fridge magnets, pins, and keychains. 💡 Pro tip: Buy chocolate at KRÓNAN supermarket—it’s cheaper than Bónus and the airport. 🍽️ Restaurant Highlight: Caruso is a must-visit! I ordered: Lobster (8990 ISK) Lamb chops (7990 ISK) Lasagna (around 2000-3000 ISK) Everything was delicious, especially the lobster—so good I went back for more! 🧇 Eldur og Ís: A popular crêpe and ice cream spot on Rainbow Street—highly recommended. 🍦 Gaeta Gelato: Perfect for ice cream lovers. #Iceland #IcelandTravel #Reykjavik #Hallgrimskirkja #Tjornin #IcelandShopping #ReykjavikFood #TravelTips
