🇮🇸 Reykjavik One-Day Guide – All You Need to Know!

🌳 Attractions (Follow this order): 🔺 Hallgrímskirkja Church Since drones aren’t allowed in Reykjavik, the tower here offers the best panoramic views of the city, ocean, and snow-capped mountains. Buy tickets on the left after entering – 1400 ISK to climb the tower. Open: 10:00 - 19:30 🔺 Rainbow Street Right opposite the church, this street is full of colorful houses, graffiti walls, and rainbow pavement. Lots of souvenir shops line the sides. 🔺 Tjörnin Lake Don’t forget to bring bread to feed the swans! They’re huge, often come ashore, and aren’t afraid of people. Sitting by the lake at sunset is incredibly peaceful. 🔺 Phallological Museum The only one of its kind in the world, featuring specimens from animals and humans. Entry is 3000 ISK/person. We skipped it as it wasn’t our thing. 🔺 Harpa Concert Hall The glass exterior shines beautifully in the morning or evening light. Great for photos from the outside—no need to go in. 🔺 Old Harbour The departure point for boat tours. Perfect for photos of boats and colorful houses. 🔺 Sun Voyager Sculpture An iconic landmark shaped like a Viking ship, marking where Vikings first landed in Iceland. 🟢 Northern Lights Spot at Night Best location: Grótta Island Lighthouse (free entry). A bit far from the city—easier to reach by car. 🥐 Food Recommendations 🔸 Sandholt Famous for Icelandic pastries and cinnamon rolls. Often has long lines. 🔸 Valdís Ice cream shop featured in a popular show—salted peanut is a must-try; pistachio is just okay. 🔸 Kebab Sara Middle Eastern grilled meat spot near Rainbow Street—go if you’re craving strong flavors. 🔸 Icelandic Street Food Lamb soup in a bread bowl (3000 ISK). Three unlimited refill options: lamb, seafood, or tomato soup. Start with seafood—once you choose another, you can’t go back! I had two bowls before the bread bowl leaked—but it was worth it! 🛒 Supermarkets for Supplies 🔹 Bónus (The Piggy Store) The most budget-friendly chain in Iceland, but with shorter opening hours. 🔹 Krónan Another affordable option with more variety than Bónus. 🔹 Netto Widest selection and longer hours (some open 24/7). Our favorite! 🔹 Prís Rumored to be cheaper than Bónus and Krónan with better quality. We didn’t have time to check it out. #Reykjavik #OneDayGuide #Iceland #NordicTravel #ReykjavikTravel #ReykjavikFood #IcelandTips
