🇮🇹 Beyond Venice: My Love for This Underrated & Romantic Town Verona

While everyone flocks to Venice, I fell in love with #Verona in Italy’s northern Veneto region 🧡! Many know it only for its Roman amphitheater and Juliet’s Balcony from Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet… but there’s so much more 🤔. Beyond its romantic atmosphere, the city is filled with stunning ancient architecture that truly gives it that “old town” charm. Hats off to 👏 #Italians for how deeply they value and preserve their heritage! You’ll also find countless churches, dreamy bridges over the Adige River, delicious local wine and food from the Veneto countryside, and the breathtaking Lake Garda 👀. I’d recommend spending 3-4 days here 🧳. Verona is very close to #Venice. From #Florence, it’s just a 1.5-hour high-speed train ride away. 📍 Must-Visit Spots: 1️⃣ Piazza Bra The heart of the square is the massive Arena – an ancient Roman amphitheater that’s still used as an open-air opera house today 🎭. Catch a show if you can! The square is surrounded by beautiful palaces and cafes — perfect for a scenic coffee break. 2️⃣ Piazza delle Erbe & Juliet’s House At the end of Via Giuseppe Mazzini (shopping street 🛍️), turn left for Piazza delle Erbe with its historic fountain — super photogenic 📸. Turn right onto Via Cappello to find Juliet’s House, featuring the famous balcony and statue (closed on Mondays!). 3️⃣ Palazzo della Ragione Located in Piazza delle Erbe, climb the Lamberti Tower (Torre dei Lamberti) for a stunning panoramic view of Verona 🏙️. Entrance fee applies. Opening hours: Oct–May: 8:30 AM–7:30 PM Jun–Sep: 8:30 AM–8:30 PM 4️⃣ Arche Scaligere (Scaliger Tombs) A group of five gorgeous Gothic tombs — among the most beautiful examples of Gothic architecture in Verona. Although not open to the public, you can still admire them from outside the gate. ⚠️ Due to the word limit, there are many more gems in Verona I couldn’t include — feel free to ask me for more recommendations! While you’re in #Verona, consider a day trip to Valpolicella 🍷 — famous for its wine — or Soave 🏰, a fairytale-like town known for its white wine and year-round tastings. #Italy #ItalianTravel #EuropeTravel #Venice #Verona #RomeoAndJuliet 🇮🇹✨
