🇮🇹 Day Trip from Turin: Gran Paradiso National Park 🍁

📍 Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso Located near the town of Aosta, about 2.5 hours drive from Turin 🚘 🧭 The itinerary is divided into three main parts: 1️⃣ Valnontey – A great starting point for hiking (approx. 2.5 hours to the top). The foot of the mountain is a small village with pastures where you can spot cows and sheep 🐄🐏. During the climb, you might encounter wild deer and various kinds of mushrooms 🍄. 2️⃣ Lunch in Cogne – Several nice restaurants with meals ranging from €10-20 per person 💶 (no coperto charge!). Finally got to try Lasagna in Italy – a bit salty but delicious nonetheless! 😋 3️⃣ Cascate di Lillaz (Lillaz Waterfall) – You can hike up from the main trail, pass a platform with a bar and open grassland 🍃. From there, you can descend closer to the waterfall (waterproof hiking shoes recommended!). The return route along the mountain path is even prettier – multiple viewpoints and on sunny days you might catch a rainbow over the waterfall 🌈! This trip is relaxed and beginner-friendly: 👟 Comfortable shoes are fine (hiking shoes ideal) 🧥 Layer with a windbreaker + fleece + light down (backup) 👖 Thick outdoor pants (single layer might be too cold) 🧢 A beanie is a good idea We went on Oct 6th – 8-9°C 🌡️, but it felt warmer while walking. A long-sleeve T + lightweight windbreaker + waterproof trekking pants (thin fleece) were just enough!
