๐ฎ๐น Exploring Genoa with My Grad Student Sister
After finishing my internship in Singapore, I saved up some money and kicked off my Europe trip! First stop: Genoa, Italy ๐ Getting There From Milan Airport: Took FlixBus (2.5h, โฌ31) Sights to See โ๏ธ ๐ Piazza De Ferrari The heart of Genoaโbig fountain, shops, and restaurants nearby. ๐ Acquario di Genova (Not Recommended ๐ ๐ปโโ๏ธ) โฌ29 for a tiny aquarium with few animals. Skip it! ๐ Boccadasse Take bus #31 (30min). Best at sunset! ๐ ๐ Camogli 1hr by train. Bring a picnic blanket and snacks for a chill beach day! ๐๏ธ ๐ Red Funicular (๐ Genoaโs Oldest Transport) Helps locals (especially elderly) navigate the hilly city. Food & Culture ๐ ๐ Gelateria Viganotti Traditional gelato in covered cups (โฌ3 for 2 flavors). ๐ Aperitivo Culture 6-9PM: Italians unwind with drinks & snacks. So work-life balance! ๐น My Genoa Experience Not a tourist hotspot, so fewer foreigners. But... I faced racism twice in 6 days. ๐ 1๏ธโฃ On the train to Camogli Kids shouted "Chinese, go back to China!" (I'm Malaysian btw ๐). My sis (who speaks Italian) just stared them down. 2๏ธโฃ At a restaurant Waitress was rude only to us. After complaining, she still muttered under her breath. ๐คฌ Older locals = friendly | Younger ones = sometimes ignorant. Maybe they lack global exposure? Still, Genoa has its charmโjust be prepared. #ItalyTravel #Genoa #RacismAwareness #TravelDiaries #Camogli #WorkLifeBalance
