🇮🇹 Genoa: A City Worth Revisiting

In early July, our family drove five hours straight from Switzerland down to Genoa. The deep blue sea and blazing sunshine instantly washed away months of gloomy Swiss weather. We happily wandered under the scorching sun, discovering delicious hole-in-the-wall eateries, gelato bigger than a child’s face, and stylish Italian beauties everywhere. When the heat got too much, we ducked into the cool, winding alleys of the old town—where bars and restaurants set up tables on the slopes, reminding me of a lazy afternoon I once spent at a hillside bar in Hong Kong. We even stumbled upon a newlywed celebration, where a young couple and their friends cheered with flower crowns—we couldn’t help but join in the applause! The palatial architecture of the Rolli Palaces was breathtaking, but even the crumbling backstreets hid stunning details—glimpses of Genoa’s golden age as a mighty maritime republic. If you get the chance, see Genoa from the sea 🚢. The view of this city squeezed between mountains and ocean, with its bustling port, is unforgettable. As a lifelong lover of coastal cities, Genoa stole my heart. We spent just over a day exploring—not nearly enough! Next time I’m in Italy, Genoa is absolutely on the list. ——— A Little Adventure: On our first day, near the port, a local street vendor "gifted" my husband and kid friendship bracelets—a classic tourist trap. Before I could react, my husband (a tall guy) just said, "No money," and walked off, bracelets still on. The vendor shrugged and let it go—probably not worth the hassle. After that, we avoided that area, and no more surprises! 😅 #Genoa #ItalyTravel #CityWalk #EuropeTravel ✨🌊🇮🇹
