I had zero expectations for Perugiaājust a quick stop before Assisiābut wow, this "ordinary" town is full of surprises! A Bit of History Perugia, the capital of Umbria, may not be as famous as neighboring Tuscany, but it boasts ancient history, stunning art, and amazing food. Its roots trace back to the Etruscan civilization (think 2,000+ years of ruinsāItalyās Xiāan!). Art lovers, take note: This is the hometown of Perugino, Raphaelās teacher, with early Renaissance masterpieces scattered around. Foodies rejoiceāUmbria produces bold red wines, truffles, and Baci chocolates (those hazelnut kisses!). And itās cheapāa croissant + cappuccino for just ā¬3! š„ā Best of all? The arched alleys and postcard-perfect corners make it a dream for city walks. Getting There š From Florence/Rome: ~2h by train (~ā¬10-15). š From Perugia Station: Hop on the miniMetro (tiny cute train, ā¬1.50, credit card accepted).
