🇮🇹 What to See in Verona in One Day
Just over an hour by train from Venice, Verona is the second-largest city in the region—and easily accessible from Milan too! This city has two major highlights: 1️⃣ The Verona Arena – Older than Rome's Colosseum and one of the earliest amphitheaters of its kind! Climbing the steep tiers felt like scaling an Egyptian pyramid 🏟️. Now transformed into a grand open-air theater, it even has luxurious single-occupancy bathrooms (like Beijing's Parkview Green!)—though still no toilet seats… squat goals 💪. The outer walls were added later for defense. 2️⃣ Juliet’s House (and Balcony) – Yes, Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet was originally set here! Other Gems: 🏰 Romanesque Castle Architecture – Pre-Renaissance forts & churches had thick walls, tiny windows (for defense!). The Scaliger family’s castle is a classic example—lots of yellow stonework and barely any windows 😆. Fun Finds: • Romeo’s House (just a quiet doorway near Juliet’s) • A new Chinese restaurant—where I found Italy’s only decent bubble tea! 🧋 #ItalyTravel #VeniceTrips #VeronaArena #VeronaGuide #RomeoAndJuliet
