š°šæ A Taste of China in Almaty
š°šæ A Taste of China in Almaty This Xinjiang restaurant is a true hidden gem. By dinner time, thereās almost always a waitāand for good reason. Itās the cheapest Xinjiang eatery Iāve found in Almaty, yet the flavors never skimp. Plus, thereās zero service charge. If it were near my place, Iād eat here dailyātotalčÆåæ (honest) business! 1.š Location: Search "baozi" on maps. Itās about 200 meters north of the northern MEGA Mallāeasy to spot once youāre in the area šŗļø. 2.š® Ambiance: The decor feels classic, not outdatedāmore like a beloved old establishment. Most diners are regulars; youāll see them greeting each other like neighbors, which adds to the warm, homey vibe. 3.ā¤ļø Service: The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and speak basic Chinese, making ordering a breeze. Itās a small touch, but chatting in your native language while abroad feels surprisingly comforting. 4.š² The food: Letās dive in. Almaty is full of places selling baked buns, but as someone raised on steamed buns, the steamed options here made my eyes light up! Two flavors: meat (juicy, well-spiced) and vegetarian (classic chives and egg)āexactly like the ones from home. The hand-pulled noodles with sauce are a standout too. The portions of veggies are generous, and the meat isnāt skimped on. But the noodles themselves? Perfectly chewy, with that satisfying texture that elevates the whole dish. 5.š” Tip: The mushroom and pork noodle dish was a touch under-seasoned, but the celery and pork version hit the mark. A bit more consistency would make it flawlessābut itās still a top pick. Iāll definitely be back. Hereās to the ownerās successāthis spot deserves all the love it gets. #Almaty #Kazakhstan #AlmatyChineseRestaurants #FoodAndCulture
