🇰🇿Almaty’s Harbin Restaurant is incredibly delicious😭
1.Last week, I was craving guobaorou (crispy sweet-and-sour pork), so a colleague found this Harbin restaurant. Let me tell you—it’s incredible, the kind of meal that makes you shake your head in delight 😋. We four girls, usually light eaters, ordered seven dishes: dry pot intestines, big pulled noodles, dry-fried green beans, guobaorou, “ants climbing a tree” (glass noodles with minced pork), spicy chicken, and scallion pancakes. And we finished every bite! (Though maybe the portions are on the smaller side—haha 😜.) 2.Personally, the standout dishes were “ants climbing a tree” and the big pulled noodles 🍜. I’d never tried “ants climbing a tree” before, and it blew my mind—so delicious, we scraped the plate clean 🥢. Back home, some places drown pulled noodles in too much sesame paste, making them cloying, but here the sesame paste is perfectly balanced. Best of all, the noodles are thin and have an amazing texture! 3.My colleague loved the guobaorou 🍖, saying it’s better than many northeastern Chinese restaurants back home—the sweet-sour ratio is spot on. Though one piece was a bit thick, with the center slightly undercooked. We mentioned it to the staff, who explained the chef had been scolded by the boss earlier for using too high heat, so he’d adjusted the fire that evening 😅. They offered to remake it, but we were too full. In the end, they knocked some off the bill 💰. 4.When we told the front desk how much we loved the “ants climbing a tree” and pulled noodles—saying they were the best we’d ever had—they turned to grab something. I thought it might be more pulled noodles, but instead, they gave us four bottles of Tea π 🥤. All in all, it was a fantastic, satisfying meal! Does anyone know other great restaurants in Almaty? #ChineseRestaurant #Almaty #NortheasternChineseFood #AlmatyFood
