๐ฑ๐บ ๐ Luxembourg | Europe's Most Beautiful Terrace and Castle Underg
If I could only recommend one spot in Luxembourg, it would have to be the place known as "Europe's Most Beautiful Terrace"โthe Chemin de la Corniche. ๐ Trust the navigation on Google Maps to lead you there, even if it doesn't have many reviews. ๐ As you walk along, you can also explore the Bock Casemates (as seen in Figure 2), a historically significant underground fortress of the castle. ๐ฏ It took me 38 minutes to walk through the entire complex, which feels like a subterranean labyrinth with not much text to guide youโemphasizing free exploration. ๐ต๏ธโโ๏ธ The entrance fee is 10 euros, and you can find more details in the pictures. ๐ถ This site has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is an important tourist attraction in Luxembourg, showcasing its military history and cultural heritage. ๐ Brief Introduction: The Bock Casemates, built in 1644, is a complex underground defense system that reaches a depth of 40 meters and extends 23 kilometers in total length. It was once one of the most formidable defensive works in Europe. ๐ก๏ธ The tunnels contain batteries, observation points, and bunkers capable of housing tens of thousands of soldiers. ๐ฅ Although parts of the fortifications were dismantled in 1867, a large portion of the tunnels has been preserved. ๐๏ธ During World War II, many people took shelter there. ๐ก๏ธ #EuropeanTravel #Luxembourg #LuxembourgTravel #Castles #CulturalAttractions #MyOffTheBeatenPathTravelGuide
