🇲🇦 Morocco Road Trip: The Perfect Fes → Merzouga Itinerary!
(Continuing from my last post! Left Chefchaouen at 4PM for Fes—no highway, but smooth roads. Arrived by evening.) 1️⃣ Riad Stay (Traditional Moroccan Guesthouse) Location Matters! My riad was deep in the medina’s alleys. Cars can’t enter—park on the main road (~30 MAD/day). "Guides" will offer to lead you (for a fee—I haggled from 30 MAD down to 20 MAD 😅). Pro tip: Stay near Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate) to explore on foot! 2️⃣ Navigating Fes: Avoid the "Helpers" Ignore random "guides"—they’ll follow you if you engage! Fes scams are pricier than elsewhere (e.g., parking "assistance"). 3️⃣ Must-See Spots (All Walkable!) 🔵 Bab Boujloud (Blue Gate) Blue outside, green inside—great for photos. 🏛️ Al-Attarine Madrasa (20 MAD) Stunning courtyard (just photos if no guide). 📚 University of Al Quaraouiyine Oldest degree-granting uni in the world! (Non-Muslims can’t enter.) 🎨 Chouara Tannery Google Maps fails here! Enter via the small door next to the man in blue (10 MAD for mint leaves to block the smell). 4️⃣ Shopping: Haggle Hard! Leather bags & rugs—start at 50% off the asking price. 5️⃣ FOOD HIGHLIGHT: Best Meal in Morocco! 🍖 Grill House (outside the medina) Order 1/2 kg of lamb/beef per person—SO GOOD. Show my photo if the menu’s confusing! 6️⃣ Ifrane: Quick Stop 🏡 "Morocco’s Little Switzerland" (just a pretty French-style town). ❄️ Got lucky with snowy views! 7️⃣ Midelt: Overnight Pit Stop 🍎 Apple country + epic sunset skies! 🛏️ Stayed at a decent chain hotel (DM for details). 8️⃣ Secret: Where to Find Drinks 🍷 Fes has hidden bars! One gem had great ambiance—DM me for the name. Next: Merzouga Desert Adventure! 🏜️ #MoroccoRoadTrip #Fes #DesertVibes #TravelTips #NoScams 🚗💨
