Stepping Into One Thousand and One Nights 🪔 The Ancient City of Fez
Day 7 of our Morocco adventure 🇲🇦 began with a morning bus ride to this legendary walled city. 🚪 The Iconic Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud) Built by the French in 1913, its outer façade dazzles with cobalt-blue mosaics, while the inner side glows emerald green. Our guide warned us: "At 10 AM, the medina is just waking up—shops barely open, stalls still setting up." 🏙️ A Living, Breathing Time Capsule Beyond the usual spices, textiles, and trinkets, Fez hides 780+ mosques 🕌—you’ll spot one every few steps. Fun fact: Home to the world’s oldest university (Al Quaraouiyine, founded in 859 AD!). 🛎️ Artisan Magic We peeked into a traditional workshop: brass lanterns, hand-painted ceramics, and pewter trays straight out of Scheherazade’s tales. ✨ Then, the infamous tanneries—where pungent vats of dye create a kaleidoscope of leather goods. (Mint leaves = nose saviors! 🌿) 🌄 Why Fez Feels Like a Fairytale Alleys whisper history: Donkeys cart goods past 12th-century madrasas, and calligraphy shops double as time machines. Every corner smells of fresh bread, arnica oil, and yes… that tannery tang. #WorldHeritage #FezMedina #MoroccoMagic #LostInTime #TravelDeeper
