Attractions: Macedonian Square: 🏙️ The heart of Skopje, most notably featuring the Alexander the Great statue. Stone Bridge and Adjacent Bridges: 🌉️ An Ottoman-style historic bridge with a fountain in the middle and beautiful sculptures on the bridge. It's actually newly constructed within the last decade. Skopje Old Bazaar: 🏺️ Crossing the Stone Bridge leads you to the Old Bazaar, where you'll pass by sculptures and fountains. It's the liveliest part of the city with many restaurants and souvenir shops. Bathhouse Museums in the Old Bazaar: 📍 National Gallery Chifte Amam Admission: 100 MKD cash. Formerly a bathhouse, now a museum with a preserved old display and a beautiful domed ceiling. 📍 National Gallery of Macedonia Daut Pasha Hammam Admission: 100 MKD, credit cards accepted. A domed museum on the outskirts of the market, also converted from a bathhouse, featuring contemporary art. Mother Teresa Memorial: 🕊️ Free admission. Skopje is the birthplace of Mother Teresa, and this memorial collects many old photos, letters, and honors related to her. St. Clement of Ohrid Church: ⛪️ The largest Orthodox Church in North Macedonia with a stunning interior. On Sundays, you might catch a service where the congregation listens devoutly to the bishop's prayers. Fortress: 🏰️ Free admission. Offers a panoramic view of the city center, but it was too hot to visit. Millennium Cross: ✝️ Visible from the city center, but a bit far away, so we didn't go. Summer in Europe: 🌞️ It's very hot during the day, with temperatures ranging from 34-36 degrees Celsius.
