🇳🇱 | Zaandam Windmill Village Route Guide + Travel Tips 🪁
One of the must-visit spots in the Netherlands is Zaanse Schans, the iconic windmill village near Zaandam! I visited during the winter off-season, and the weather was quite foggy (typical Dutch gloom 🌫️), so I hesitated about sharing. But here’s my experience for future travelers! 🚂 Route & Food Stop I took the train from Amsterdam Centraal to Zaandam Station (12 mins). Right next to the LEGO-like buildings, I grabbed breakfast at Lagom Café—super convenient and cozy! The staff were friendly (and handsome 😉), and they treated Asian tourists warmly. The food was surprisingly good for "white people food" (though portions were huge! 😆). My friend’s smaller breakfast plate was delicious too. Pro tip: There’s a cute photo corner inside! (Pic 3) 🌬️ Windmill Village Adventure After exploring Zaandam, I took a 30-min bus to Zaanse Schans. Here’s what I did: 1️⃣ Cheese Heaven at Henri Willig 🧀 – Tasted SO many free samples (black truffle flavor = winner!). Loved it so much, I bought extra back in Amsterdam for friends. 2️⃣ Mini Scenic Deck – Paid entry (skipped it due to bad weather, but spring/summer views must be gorgeous!). 3️⃣ DIY Hot Chocolate Shop ☕ – Mixed my own recipe from provided ingredients, then added marshmallows/cream at checkout. So fun! 4️⃣ Miffy (Nijntje) Shop 🐰 – Adorable Dutch rabbit merch! The window display alone was Instagram-worthy. 💡 Final Thoughts A charming but weather-dependent experience! Best time to visit? Spring! 🌷 You’ll get: ✅ Sunny skies for photos ✅ Blooming tulip fields nearby ✅ Less wind (hopefully 😅) #Netherlands #Zaandam #DutchTravel #WindmillVillage #LEGOTown #ZaanseSchans #TravelTips #MiffyLovers
