Resigning to Travel Europe | Lost in the LEGO Town of Zaandam
🖼️ Some say it’s a LEGO town, others call it a fairy-tale world—Zaandam is truly one-of-a-kind! The moment you step out of Zaandam Station, you’re surrounded by colorful, block-like buildings that feel straight out of a parallel universe, offering a brief escape from our fast-paced world. So when people ask if Zaandam is worth visiting, my answer is: If you have a romantic soul, you must experience it! 🏠 Located in North Holland along the Zaan River, just north of Amsterdam, Zaandam is famous for its "LEGO town" charm, with vibrant houses that look like they were built from toy bricks. 🚄 Transportation: Buy tickets on the NS app—from Amsterdam Centraal to Zaandam, just 12 minutes by train. Zaandam is only 5 minutes by train to Zaanse Schans, the iconic windmill village. The town itself is tiny and walkable, perfect for a quick 1-hour stroll en route to the windmills. 🏚 The famous LEGO-like building is actually Inntel Hotels, right outside Zaandam Station. The stacked green houses are inspired by traditional Dutch wooden homes, which you can see in their original form at Zaanse Schans. 🎨 Claude Monet’s studio was here too! The French Impressionist once lived in Zaandam and painted 25 works, including the famous The Blue House. 📍 Westzijde 14, 1506 EE Zaandam 🚢 Czar Peter House (Het Czaar Peterhuisje): In 1697, Russian Czar Peter the Great stayed here while studying shipbuilding and navigation in the Netherlands. 📍 Krimp 23, 1506 AA Zaandam 🛒 Just 20m from the LEGO hotel, you’ll find an Albert Heijn (AH) supermarket—the Dutch retail giant’s headquarters is in Zaandam! 🍽 A century-old restaurant by the canal has a floating boat dining area—perfect for enjoying traditional Dutch pea soup on a sunny day. #HiddenGems #Travel #Netherlands #EuropeTravel #Zaandam #LEGOTown #WindmillVillage #RussianCzar #Monet #DutchAdventures #Wanderlust
