🇵🇭 Malapascua | Mom Island Restaurant Recommendations 🍽️
I stayed on Malapascua Island in the Philippines 🇵🇭 for almost a week, a place known by many as a "food desert".🥑 But for foodies, that’s not the case... Though the options are limited, overall, the food was decent. 🌞 Breakfast (tries beyond the hotel’s included breakfast)🍔 Bebot‘s: Located next to Bueda Vida, Bebot‘s opens at 7 AM. It seems to specialize in breakfast and brunch, with freshly ground ☕️—a rarity on the island. The atmosphere is nice.👍👍 🥣 Main Meals Legend: The first restaurant we tried. We ordered salad, meat sauce 🍝, and fried squid rings. 👉👈Only the fried squid rings were passable; the meat sauce pasta tasted like spoiled canned food. With so many other options at this price point, it’s not recommended.🗻🗻 Angelina: The island’s top-recommended Italian restaurant, worth trying multiple times.☀️☀️ We ordered house white wine, signature pizza, seafood salad, seafood fettuccine, shrimp, and coffee panna cotta 🍮—all excellent, no misses. The evening atmosphere is great, the house wine is good, and the desserts aren’t too sweet. Outdoor seats need to be reserved in advance.🙈🙈 Hippocampus: A restaurant by Devocean dive shop, right by the sea. 🏖️🏖️ There’s a live singer later in the evening, and they’re the best among all restaurants. Happy hour is 4-7 PM, and it gets crowded. We ordered barbecued food from the nearby stall, salad, and cocktails 🍹 (note: signature drinks aren’t included in happy hour). The grilled squid from the adjacent barbecue stall here is the best we’ve had on the island, better than the night market’s.🌸 Ocean vida: Arguably the top spot for food and accommodation on the island. We tried their spicy black tiger 🦐 and seafood platter—good, but you’ll need to wait an hour.🍄 🌃 Night Market The central night market has mostly barbecue stalls in the evening, with other dishes available too. There’s grilled seafood, meat, and vegetables...🥬🥬 Lots of (vibrant, bustling energy), and everything looks decent.🌻 Avrill‘s: We first chose Avrill‘s, which has the most Google reviews. The grilled prawns were good, but the rest were average.🍇 Mercado's Eatery: We went back here a second time, ordering sea grape salad, squid prepared two ways, grilled corn, and roasted vegetables. The grilled corn and the local-style sizzling squid were the best👍 Highly recommend the sizzling (hot plate dishes)—they’re quite suited to Chinese tastes.🦐 Chrislee kitchenet 🌲& bbq: The most unremarkable spot in the market. They wave you over but serve food the slowest, with chaotic orders—they’ll completely mix up what you ordered. We even finished dishes from other stalls before ours arrived. Not worth considering at all 🍝 ☕️ Cafés Devozen cafe: The best coffee shop ☕️ on the island. The iced latte and shakes are good, and the WiFi works well. A British dive instructor said she often works remotely here.🍛🍛 #Malapascua #Philippines #DivingTravel #RestaurantRecommendations #MalapascuaDiving
