🇺🇸 3.3 Minneapolis | Mill City Museum
After crossing the Mississippi River, we parked opposite the Guthrie Theater. Seeing a crowd gathered, we wondered if we’d stumbled upon another concert 🎵 First, we walked to the riverbank behind the theater to get a view of the stone arch bridge we’d missed earlier—and yes!🍳☕ From here, you can see multiple bridges and the Mill City Museum—a great photo spot 📸 🏭 Mill City Museum The ruins of the burned-down ceiling and walls are visible even from outside.Inside, we saw:A dam model (reminded me of the board game Dam!)Historic milling machineryVintage flour advertisements The highlight was the Flour Tower tour!We rode an elevator through multiple floors, each with immersive sets telling the story of Minneapolis as the “Flour Milling Capital of the World” 🌾📦 Brief history: The St. Anthony Falls on the Mississippi River provided powerful hydropower for mills, enabling large-scale industrial flour production. However, with the rise of electricity and other factors, water-powered mills gradually lost their competitive edge.🍕🌇 After decades of abandonment, the building became a shelter for the homeless. In 1991, a fire—started by unclear causes—devastated the structure.🏘️💖 The tour ends on the 9th-floor observation deck with panoramic views of the river and the waterfall All for just $15! Totally worth it—no regrets!⛽🔥 #RoadTrip #Minnesota #MillCity #FlourMilling #Minneapolis #MichiganUSA #ChicagoDayTrip
