Took advantage of spring break for a 9-day East Coast trip with friends โ€“ first stop, Philadelphia! Two days of easy exploring and eating, no rushed schedules! ๐ŸŽ’ Day 1 โ€“ Half-Day Highlights ๐Ÿฅฉ Reading Terminal Market Dropped our bags and headed straight here! Must-try: Hershelโ€™s East Side Deli โ€“ their pastrami sandwich is incredible! ๐Ÿฅช Tender beef, huge portion = pure happiness. Also tried BBQ wings from a nearby stall โ€“ juicy and flavourful! ๐Ÿ“ Liberty Bell & Independence Hall Walked to Independence Hall. Saw the Liberty Bell first โ€“ small exhibit, security check required. Booked Independence Hall tour via app ($1 fee), but you can also just take photos outside. ๐Ÿ“ธ ๐Ÿฆ The Franklin Fountain Visited this classic ice cream shop. Peach flavour was unique (almost like fermented wine?) but honestly overhyped on Red. ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿš Yi Pin Tian Xia Dinner at this Chinese spot โ€“ tasty and affordable! Four dishes for four people = totally stuffed! ๐Ÿฅข ๐Ÿ“ City Hall Light Show? Heard thereโ€™s a Friday/Saturday light showโ€ฆ but we didnโ€™t see it. Maybe only on special holidays? ๐Ÿ’ก Day 2 โ€“ Philly Stroll ๐Ÿ“ City Hall & Love Park Slept in ๐Ÿ’ค, arrived around 11 AM. Took photos at City Hall (30 mins max). Love Park is right next door โ€“ the LOVE sculpture is smaller than expected โค๏ธ. ๐Ÿฆ† Jiang Nan Restaurant Walked to Chinatown. Nice atmosphere, no bad dishes! Recommended: roast duck, sweet & sour pork, truffle mushroom rice. ~$30+/person. โš ๏ธ 18% tip automatically added for groups of 6+. ๐Ÿ“ UPenn Went straight to the bookstore โ€“ great merch! ๐ŸŽ’๐Ÿงข Couldnโ€™t enter academic buildings (tourists not allowed), soโ€ฆ circled back to the bookstore just to use the restroom ๐Ÿ˜น. ๐Ÿฒ Sophieโ€™s Kitchen Cambodian cuisine in South Philly. No-frills setting but cheap and delicious! Beef skewers, pad kra pao, chicken soup, stir-fried noodles โ€“ all worth trying! Day 3 โ€“ Half-Day Wrap-Up ๐Ÿ“ Shofuso Japanese Garden Late March โ€“ cherry blossoms werenโ€™t fully bloomed yet ๐ŸŒธ. Small garden, $10+ entryโ€ฆ you can actually see most of it from outside. ๐Ÿ“ Philadelphia Museum of Art Did a quick visit since we were heading to NYCโ€™s Met the next day.
