🇺🇸 Anaheim | Off-Peak Visit to PHO 79
Country folks went to California for a few days and ate a ton of Asian food 😄. As a pho connoisseur, my top recommendation is PHO 79 (but what does the "79" even mean? 🤔), located just a short drive from Disney. A local Vietnamese-American friend took us here—that’s how you know it’s legit! 🎯 By 4 PM, the place was already packed. During peak meal times, there’s always a line. And heads up—it’s CASH ONLY. 💵 🍜 The pho bowls are huge with loads of meat. The broth is sweet, savory, and full of beef flavor—MSG done right 😉. The only slight letdown is that the noodles aren’t handmade, but they’re still a step above generic store-bought ones. 🫔 Spring Rolls (Cha Gio) – LEGENDARY! The wrapper is crispy yet tender, and the filling is perfectly balanced. Amazing texture. These are literally my life’s best cha gio. ❤️ The owner (or a guy who looked like him 👨🍳) said they use expensive Chinese pepper—something unique to their recipe. You’re in for a treat! 🐖 Bun Bo Hue – A spicy pork knuckle and vermicelli soup. Not too spicy, and the noodles have that signature snail-noodle texture 🐌. The broth is flavorful with a strong fish sauce note, but not overly salty. You get two big pieces of tender, well-braised pork knuckle—perfectly cleaned and cooked. The other meats in the dish are also super tender. Seriously, how is the Vietnamese food in (around) LA so good?! 😭 The portions are massive—even a Disney princess would leave full and ready to run back to the castle 🏰. Everyone says Austin has a big Vietnamese community, but the food scene there… just doesn’t compare 😬… #LosAngeles #Pho #VietnameseFood #AnaheimEats #FoodieReview
