🇺🇸 Buying Guns in Orlando Is Like Grocery Shopping?
I just meant to take a break and go out for a casual stroll… Then I walked into Outdoor World — and found myself in the firearms section. 😳 — Outdoor World is a major outdoor gear chain across the U.S. (Highly recommend tourists check it out! 🛒) Other U.S. outdoor retail chains include: REI: High-end hiking & camping gear 🏕️ Cabela’s / Bass Pro: More focused on fishing & hunting 🎣 Academy Sports: Outdoor + sports + everyday items Haven’t explored the others in depth yet — will share more when I do! This time, it was all about the gun section at Outdoor World. The variety is pretty decent: Handguns, shotguns, rifles, all kinds of scopes… While it’s not a dedicated gun store, it’s more than enough for beginners. 🔫 — ✅ Q1: How to buy a gun in Florida? If you’re a Florida resident, 21+ with an ID, you can buy one. No concealed carry permit (CCW) required — just pick and pay at the store. There’s a 3-day waiting period (“cooling off”) before you can take it home. Rumor has it the age might be lowered to 18 — still under debate. ✅ Q2: Are guns expensive? I liked two models yesterday: Sig Sauer M18 & Canik Combat TT Both are pretty affordable — around ¥5,000 - ¥7,000 RMB. ✅ Q3: Where can you shoot legally? Search “Shooting Range” on Google Maps 🎯 Most accept tourists, but it’s best to call ahead and confirm. ✅ Q4: Do Americans really keep guns at home? Yes, and it’s very common. U.S. law recognizes the “Castle Doctrine” — your home is your castle. If a stranger breaks in illegally, it can be considered self-defense. In serious cases, shooting may be justified. On a side note… I recently came across a perspective I agree with: Sometimes having a gun at home doesn’t necessarily make you safer. Many owners don’t actually want to shoot — they want to deter. But if an intruder sees you have a gun, they might shoot first because they feel threatened. So maybe if you’re not mentally prepared to actually fire in defense, pepper-ball guns could be a better option. #USATravel #SlowLiving #OrlandoLife #Florida #Orlando
